Join us for the Student Organic Farm Gala

As autumn approaches, I invite you to gather at the Michigan State University Student Organic Farm (SOF) for an evening of dining and camaraderie in support of MSU’s student farmers. Once known as Feast in the Field, we have reimagined this special event as the Student Organic Farm Gala to take place Sunday, Oct. 8, starting at 4 p.m.

The mission remains the same: celebrate our students, food and farming. Your attendance and support has helped MSU prepare future farmers in food production and create a veritable learning lab for students from all disciplines. We invite you to continue your support by joining us Oct. 8. This year, we’re proud to share the gala will raise funds for the new straw bale building. This first-of-its-kind structure at MSU will help bring awareness and critical conversation around the carbon footprint of construction and farming. We’re also delighted to take this opportunity to celebrate the recent addition of the SOF to the Division of Student Life & Engagement and welcome our new Farm Manager Darby Anderson.

We encourage you to register at go.msu.edu/sofgala. The cost for the event is $200 per person, $1,500 per eight-seat table. If you are not able to join us but would like to donate, that option is available as well here. If you are purchasing tickets with a departmental account, please contact Gabi Rueffer (bakerga2@msu.edu) with the subject line SOF Gala.

We will dine alfresco on the grounds of the farm, and guests will enjoy a seven-course farm-to-table meal consisting of MSU farm-raised meats and other delicacies prepared by Culinary Services. Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably, sporting all-terrain footwear, and come prepared for a cool, autumn evening.

Event proceeds are allocated to the MSU SOF to support its mission of cultivating knowledge and human capacity in organic and sustainable agriculture for student farmers and educators. Please RSVP by Sept. 26, 2023.

Should you have any questions regarding event registration or dietary restrictions, please contact Zeinab Mroue (mrouezei@msu.edu) or Rob Trufant (trufantr@msu.edu).

We look forward to a meal with you at the 2023 Student Organic Farm Gala.

Sincerely,

Vennie Gore
