Student Development and Leadership Announces New Director of Career Services Network

A new director for the MSU Career Service Network (CSN) has been announced! Karin Hanson has been named to lead the unit, bringing with her 15 years of career services experience at MSU and 17 years of industry experience in human resources.

Since 2019, Hanson has served as the director of Employer Relations where she and her team strive to provide strong student and employer connections for all programs across campus. In 2018, she was asked to serve as interim executive director for CSN and used that time to deepen campus partnerships and advance the team’s impact.

“Karin has been a productive, reliable team member at CSN, so we are really excited to have her lead the unit into its next chapter,” said Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Leadership Allyn Shaw, Ph.D. “Her wealth of experience and passion for supporting students is evident and will serve the Spartan community well.”

Prior to her role in CSN, Hanson served as both the career consultant and director in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences where she greatly enjoyed leading courses both on campus and through study abroad, originating multiple self-sustaining career treks across the country. Additionally, Hanson developed creative methods to allow students to learn and explore their career options, helping them achieve their goals upon graduation and beyond.

Throughout her time at MSU, she has been dedicated to growing creative collaborations with faculty, alumni and employers to improve student success.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the talented and committed Career Services Network team to further strengthen collaborations throughout campus, ensuring that CSN serves all students across campus,” said Hanson.

Hanson enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, walking her dog, Titus, running and paddleboarding whenever possible. She volunteers with MSUFCU and currently serves on the Board of Directors as an associate director.  She and her husband, Don, reside in Mason and have two adult sons who are proud MSU alumni.
