Help Wanted: MCC Furniture Fair Gives MSU Community Opportunity to Voice Preferences for Various Room Settings

The Division of Student Life and Engagement (SLE) along with Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF), and SmithGroup will be hosting a special Furniture Fair for the incoming Multicultural Center (MCC), slated to open this fall.

MSU Community members, including students, faculty and staff, are all welcome to walk through a number of room settings at the Student Services Building, Room 110, Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Thursday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In reviewing the furniture options being evaluated for the project, attendees can take the opportunity to supply important input and rate furniture items for comfort, function and aesthetics.

“The MCC is truly a community-driven project. There are many stakeholders, and this is a great opportunity for them to influence an important part of the project,” said Dr. Genyne Royal, assistant vice president of Student Life & Engagement for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.

The center will be located west of Shaw Hall at the corner of North Shaw and Farm lanes. The $38M project comes after decades of advocacy from various campus communities and focuses on increasing space for Spartans of all cultural backgrounds to feel welcome and embraced.

Hundreds of community members came to campus to celebrate the Multicultural Center Groundbreaking Ceremony in April of 2023.

Recognizing Our Past. Building Our Future. More detailed information about the center can found at mccenter.msu.edu.
